About the State Council
The SEIU Connecticut State Council’s mission is to improve the lives of Connecticut’s working families by fighting for living wages, health care for all, pensions, and the opportunity for advancement. Our goal is nothing less than to win back the American Dream for thousands of hard-working families.
No matter how threatening our environment is, one thing is certain: when we speak with one voice, we can make a difference for our members and all working people.
The SEIU Connecticut State Council includes 6 affiliated locals representing over 65,000 active and retired members, making it the state’s largest union.
We are stronger and more united when we speak with one voice at the bargaining table within our industries, at the worksite, in organizing, in federal, state, and local legislative arenas, in politics, in solidarity with other unions and other workers, and in the communities where our members work and live.
We are part of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), an organization of 2-million members united by the belief in the dignity and worth of workers and the services they provide and dedicated to improving the lives of workers and their families and creating a more just and humane society.
